Adding a Rule to a Query

This task explains how to add one or more rules to a query.

There are four parts in a rule (filter):
  • Column name (required)
  • Comparison operation (required)
  • Comparison value (required for some operations)
  • Not checkbox (optional)
  1. Select one of the following sections:
    • Pool/Volume
    • Datasets
    • DFSMShsm Mgmt
    • Tape
    The branch expands to show subsections and saved queries.
  2. Select a saved query by clicking on it once.
    Important: Double-clicking on the query runs the query and does not open it.
  3. Click ADD RULE.
  4. From the drop-down menu, select a column name.
  5. Select a comparison operation from the second drop-down menu, and then a comparison value if needed.
  6. OPTIONAL: Check or uncheck Not to apply reverse rule.
  7. OPTIONAL: Click unless you only want to excute the query one time and then not save the changes you've made.
If applicable: use Setting Up the And/Or Statement in a Query to set up an and/or statement.
